"You enjoy reading?" he raised a questioning eyebrow, but there was a mischievous twinkle in his eye.

"Yes, I do," she commented again, nodding and canting her head slightly to the side. "Why do you inquire?" she asked, raising an eyebrow and brushing her hands off onto her sides for a moment.

He whistled, and the minstrel from before came in with two servants, bearing a sedan of sorts between them. Stacked neatly on it were a good number of ancient scrolls and not-so-ancient books.
"Would you care to take those to the library?" he addressed the servants, then turned to Lilah. "They are religious texts, if you have a section of the library for those."

"I'm sure there is one, somewhere," she murmured quietly, eyeing the books and scrolls thoughtfully. "He never let me in there much, I only have held a few glances..." she trailed off, looking away and shaking her head.

He raised an eyebrow. "I am sorry. Feel free to spend as much time as you wish in the library." He beckoned to her as he sat down once more to continue eating.

Lilah sent him a smile, one that showed her appreciation, and she bowed her head in thanks. She typically would curtsy, but her leg being branded had slightly damaged the muscles and nerves, and curtsying was awkward and often knocked her off balance. She smiled and sat down carefully, though she hardly took notice, and she sat there quietly. "Thank you," she murmured to him, glancing over with her grey eyes. "For everything."

He nodded. "Thank the farmer who had the courage to flee. And does this castle have any real messengers?"

Lilah looked sad as he mentioned a farmer fleeing, but she didn't looked surprised. She shook her head at his question, speaking in response softly. "No. Jonathan is our best one, since most of our servants cannot get there as quickly as he can," she murmured. "My husband sold off a lot of them for extra money, for gambling and such," she grimaced at the idea, and the whole idea.

He nodded. "Can any of them ride?"

She looked at him and shook her head. "Not many, no. I've been attempting to teach Jonathan though. He's fairly well," she said, nodding softly.

He nodded. "Minstrel, Jonathan." The man who had alerted them to Marcus' existence approached. "We will need your help. The farmers, peasants, and merchants of this land still believe themselves ruled by a tyrant. We must spread the word of their new leadership. From this day forward, no matter how little any man may produce, he will never be taxed more than half, and will probably be taxed much less. They must be alerted to this. But before we go, the borders are sadly lacking in patrols, probably due to Duraine hording all the soldiers for his personal protection. We need to assemble patrols and send them to the borders. Preferably soldiers loyal to Duraine." He looked at Lilah. "Would you be able to identify them?"

Jonathan approached as well, and Lilah looked over as Marcus spoke. She was intrigued by him, and then she tilted her head in curiosity at what he was saying. But a smile lit her face at what he was suggesting, or more putting into action. She nodded, grinning. "You'll be lucky to find a soldier who was loyal to the man. He practically had to threaten most of them in order to gain their false loyalty," she commented, nodding her head.

"Are there any who didn't like you, or would be unappreciative of a change in rulers?"

"Not... that I didn't know of. Many hated my husband, and I've been scorned for being at his side and never speaking up, but they do not understand," she murmured, looking down for a moment. "I do not believe that any disliked me."

He nodded. "We will have to get volunteers, then. Shouldn't be too hard, as I expect many will be eager to get out of the castle.
