"You were fine until you saw me. I'm sorry I threw you off."

"Well I was shocked you actually came." She laughed and opened her eyes. They seemed to sparkle in the moonlight. "I thought you had forgotten about me."

"How could anyone forget about you?" He grinned slightly.

Carefully she moved from him to allow herself to emerge more into the water. "I plan to leave the human world."

She looked at him slightly concerned. "Father wouldn't understand."

"What? The Frog in love with the princess, or the other way around?"

"He loved a human and she rejected him for what he really was..." She said leaving off the part where in turn, her mother rejected her as well. Quickly she went to change the subject. "If anything it's more of the Little Mermaid..."

"I'm sure his people have shoved more than a couple Navy SEALs back into their boats. They know how much we love the water." He gently cupped her chin, turning her eyes to his. "And everything in it. I especially love southern-style catfish with caviar on wheat crackers."

Christine moved away from his hand. She didn't really appreciate his joke. "You belong on land. No matter what your job is." She turned from him and looked around. "You would grow tired and miss all this."

"Sorry." He glanced around. "It's all too dry. SEAL is not my job. It's what I am. I need to make arrangements for my house, but I doubt anyone would buy it. It's on an island in the middle of a lake, and there's no boat dock. Only way to get to and from is by swimming."

Christine turned back to him as he stated it. "Sounds like you don't want company." She told him in thought. Her head turned hearing a call to the sea. "I need to go Nick." As she said this her tail wrapped around his bringing her close to him and she hugged him. "Thank you...for saving me."

He hugged her back. "I got plenty of visitors. Just all of them were swimmers." One hand reached down to stroke her tail. "We should be going. The river that way leads to the ocean."

She gently kissed his cheek as her tail let go of him. Carefully she moved from him and touched his cheek. She then took off her necklace and placed it around his neck. "To think of me." Christine said. Then before he could follow, she swam quickly away.

He smiled slightly, watching her go, his fingers gently working the necklace. "We'll meet again soon," he murmured, before wading back to shore and joining his former boss for what would probably be his last ever fish dinner. Six hours later, a Gulfstream jet taxied to the JFK runway with two passengers, bound for France. Five hours after that, it would have only one passenger. An obituary would show in the Newspaper a few days later that "Nasty" Nicholas Grundle committed suicide over the Atlantic ocean by diving out of a private jet at 30,000 feet without a parachute. Here is the true story. Richard closed the door to the cockpit, sealing it, and pulled on a breath mask. He nodded to Nick, who stood next to the outer door, checking his gear. As the former Navy SEAL pulled on his skydive helmet, his ex-boss unsealed the door and stepped back. Nick opened it, and without another word dove out. After dropping straight down for about a hundred feet, he threw his arms and legs wide, stretching the wingsuit, and leveled out into a fast glide. It took almost 15 minutes for him to drop from cruising altitude and pass right over what appeared to be some shoals. His toes hit the water first, dragging him down and slowing him as he skimmed the waves, performing a perfect landing. Shucking out of the wingsuit, he turned and swam the 100 yards back to the island, wading up onto the beach in the lagoon. Dropping his backpack, he turned and gazed out over the waves, fingering the necklace that had guided him.
