Lilah followed him in, but remained off to the side, merely watching. She knew most of the farmers and the people on the land, from actually talking to them, unlike Duraine had done. Most of them loved her, though they didn't mention it often.
The farmers approached with bows. The first was an elderly man, the other younger, but wise in the same. They were disputing, but not quite at one another's throats. The first spoke easily. "Milord, there's a well that has some of the purest water and can lead to some of the ripest minerals that rests right on the boundaries between our land." The elder man continued afterwords. "Milord, we each believe that it is rightfully our well, and cannot figure a line to walk where both will be satisfied."
Lilah smiled softly, having heard this dispute before. They were back because Duraine had taken the well himself to solve their problems, so they had both lost.

He thought for a moment, then called to one of the servants in the room. "Arrange for a work detail. Tear down the well. Widen the well hole enough for two wells to be built on it. They each have access to the water." He stood. "I will help."

Both men looked at him in awe, and then they bowed their heads and spoke thankfully. "Thank you, milord!" the elderly man cried happily. He might have been old, but it was obvious he was strengthened from years of work on his land. Lilah smiled, realizing he deserved the well. Lilah gazed over towards Marcus and nodded her head.
"I will remain here," she murmured, knowing it would be best to have at least one of the people in power remaining.

He slid off his throne and headed out with the servant.

Marcus returned from the dig and construction, not the least bit dirty. But the servants who worked swore up and down that he did more work than any of them. He ate a meal, and headed out to explore the castle a little.

Lilah heard the rumors easily through the ladies that worked throughout the castle. She had been spending time in her garden, and once she had found herself finished, she was in the bathing chambers, sunk beneath the water with a smile on her face, humming quietly.

He walked in on the bathing chambers, and quickly turned away. "My apologies, milady."

Lilah gasped and crossed her arms across her chest, in an x shape, and she touched the base of her neck as she swallowed lightly, looking at him. "N-No... my apologies, milord. I forgot to request my ladies to place a cloth on the door, to show my occupation. I was forgetful," she murmured, looking down.

"I... Of course." He grabbed a cloth and closed the door, placing the cloth upon it.

She didn't take much longer after that, finding herself too flustered for focus on relaxing. She stood and dried, putting herself in a lighter night gown, drying her hair in one of the towels.

He was randomly wandering the castle. Finally, he had a chance to settle down once more.

Lilah walked into her bed chambers, but left the doors open because she liked the cross breeze from the large balcony. She walked over to it, leaning, and peered out.

He wandered past the bedchambers and stopped, turning to walk over to her. "I apologize about earlier, Lilah."

Lilah gazed over towards him and smiled gently, shrugging her slightly muscled shoulders from her gardening. "Tis in the past, milord," she murmured, nodding her head. "Truly, it is fine."

He sighed. "I still feel guilty." He turned to gaze out at the landscape. "Beautiful, despite the treachery."
